HIGHWAY USE PERMIT
Welcome to the Traffic Control Highway Use Permit application process. Once the application is completed, an application number will be issued to the applicant where it can be viewed with all folders held by the account holder in their MyCity profile. If you have been issued a Building Permit, please contact development@delta.ca before proceeding.


A Highway Use Permit (HUP) is required for any work within the road dedication or statutory right-of-ways, including but not limited to:

  • Building demolition / service connection decommissioning
  • City-owned tree removal / installation
  • Crane swings over the road dedication
  • Dike/Gate Key Access
  • Ditch infill
  • Driveway construction
  • Groundwater sampling
  • Landscaping on City boulevard with machinery
  • Moving oversized or overweight loads (including house moves)
  • Sidewalk/road construction
  • Sidewalk patio permit
  • Sidewalk hoarding
  • Special events (parades, race events, block parties, fundraisers, signs)
  • Storage bin placement on roadways
  • Street light installations
  • Traffic impacts / lane closures
  • Temporary soil anchors
